Part of the allure of Coconut Grove is its history and unparalleled charm. Much of this is derived from its historic architecture and colorful cast of residents (myself included). I often receive specific requests from Coconut Grove buyers who are only interested in homes built in the 1920s. I love to peruse these homes and enjoy seeing the detail of that period just as much as the buyers. Even when the homes are remodeled, as many obviously are, there are usually signature elements that denote 1920s craftsmanship including handsome fireplaces, authentic Mediterranean details or charming courtyards.
This weekend I pulled all the homes in Coconut Grove built between 1920 and 1930 for a client. The majority boast Spanish architecture and have retained their original charm laced with modern updates. Here some of my favorites:
The Mediterranean details found in these three Coconut Grove homes can also be found in my own 1920s listing, 3301 Crystal Court. If you recall, Royalty Slept Here.
Oh the tales these homes could tell..
