I would like to take my readers to visit my delightful clients, Sally and Roy’s blog which documents their PATIENT journey while renovating a vintage Coconut Grove home. I love to read their posts because I vividly remember our conversations about their “dream home.”
Some people might think that Sally and Roy were crazy in their desire for an old, vintage home but I knew we were kindred spirits when I had the good fortune to meet them. They LOVED old houses, as do I. They showed me photos of the wonderful home they had renovated in New York prior to moving here. I oohed and awed at the finishes and details. Once I knew what they wanted, we began our search in earnest, mostly looking at vintage homes with lots of character but, like Goldilocks and the Three Bears, none were “just right.” (Oh, and did I mention that they had a requirement to live in Coconut Grove and only Coconut Grove?)
There was one home that sort of fit the bill but REALLY needed a lot of work. In fact it needed everything. Sally and Roy were not daunted. They said “We did it once, we can do it again. It will be worth it if we get what we really want.” And so they bought this 1920′s Spanish Colonial property and began their adventure (nicknamed: One Less McMansion in the Grove).
If you are a connoisseur of homes with charm and character, and knowing of people with pluck, moxie and creativity, you will enjoy Sally and Roy’s journey.
Sally and Roy, I tip my hat to you.
