It’s Superbowl weekend and the party frenzy is on. What is it about this sporting event that brings non-football fans out of the woodwork? It can’t just be the beer and chicken wings! Whatever the reason, the Superbowl is a default holiday in the Unites States and gathering with friends is paramount.
The question is, where will we gather? My house? Your house? Many will flock to friends’ homes with the biggest TV and biggest BBQ grill but many fans and party goers will turn to their neighborhood bars for that sense of collective camaraderie. Coral Gables and Coconut Grove offer exceptional watering holes. Here’s a list of where you may find me and my honey this Sunday.
COCONUT GROVE
The Mayfair Hotel located at 3000 Florida Avenue is hosting a rooftop viewing party with $3 domestic beers, 50-cent wings, $15 pizza-and-pitcher combos and a free glass of prosecco for women wearing NFL attire.
Mr. Moe’s located at 3131 Commodore Plaza is a natural place for Superbowl fans. ESPN counts it among the Best American Sportsbars and with over 30 flat screen TVs and enticing drink specials- it’s no wonder.
CORAL GABLES
Titanic Brewery located at 5813 Ponce De Leon Blvd will be a natural for many UM students taking a study break. (I’ll fit right in?!@?) The pub food there is always a standout.
The Yard House at 320 San Lorenzo Avenue is always abuzz with sports viewing options. Its impressive array of beers might draw in more lager fans than Superbowl fans, but on Sunday, won’t they be one in the same?
